Beer in the Movies

This is probably my favourite line in any film of all time, and it’s (very) loosely about beer, too (by virtue of the fact that it's in a pub). In fact, it’s my greeting of choice, unless I’m meeting my parents. In a very tenuous way this brings me to a question: what’s your favourite scene in a film which also involves beer? Pete posted a link to Ice Cold in Alex, and that’s a fantastic scene, then there’s the scene in Shawshank Redemption when they get to drink a beer outside like free men, or maybe it’s the ‘Frank the Tank’ in Old School?

Best scene in a movie which involves beer in some way: what is it?

  1. I need to think about that, but clearly you are going for number one in a big way. Fucking and the c word in successive posts? Way to go. (-;

  3. The kinky vote has to go to a classic line from the 1981 Czech movie Postriziny (Cutting it short) which is set in the Nymburk brewery outside Prague, though it was filmed in the Dalesice brewery in Moravia.
    A rebellious bob haircut leads to the line "You should be spanked... on your bare bottom" in a cheeky classic, husband on wife, skirt-up, spanking scene.
    However, my favourite scene is when the lead couple take a bath in the mash tun. Now that's a real beer geek's fantasy!

  6. Not movies or necessarily beer, but the drinking scenes in The Wire surpass most. Bunk ko'd in the bath with a cigar and McNulty thrice crashing his car must go down as the most hilariously dark piss ups on screen.

  7. Flounder and Pinto getting introduced to the Delta house in Animal House. So many great quotes:

    "Grab a brew. Don't cost nothin'."

    "You guys playing cards?"

    "Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. damned glad to meet you."

    All topped off with John Belushi pourng mustard on his chest.

  8. Has to be the Quiet Man with John Wayne in Ireland. You also get a chance to see Guinness when it was a decent pint.
