Pivni can accommodate a larger group upstairs, and you can't beat the amazing and affordable food at the House of the Trembling Madness, though it will be a squeeze with a big group. (They have the smallest kitchen in York) I would say the Old White Swan would be promising-- lots of seating and interesting ales on. I know ale-obsessives love the Rook and Gaskill but I'm underwhelmed by it and it's a bit far out of the main circuit of pubs. There are so many really lovely pubs in a small radius--Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717216232742676074.post-61979907471237799772011-01-12T21:30:41.984+00:002011-01-12T21:30:41.984+00:00See you all there. And a lovely place to boot!Leighhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05512660051158275112noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717216232742676074.post-88287946217119863802011-01-11T10:49:04.771+00:002011-01-11T10:49:04.771+00:00I've posted some thoughts on places to go on A...I've posted some thoughts on places to go on Andy's blog.

Last time you were up north you got to see the back streets of Manchester and Huddersfield in the dark.
But this time I'm sure we'll dip in and out of the city so you'll get the chance to see York and its a lovely place.

It appears that The North holds influence when it comes to the Twissup. I don't like the idea of splitting the event as if we do that I think that would be its downfall.
We will be down in London for Beer Bloggers Confrence and GBBF so that evens it out.Rob Derbyshirehttp://hopzine.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717216232742676074.post-72492741870516648562011-01-11T10:40:02.574+00:002011-01-11T10:40:02.574+00:00York's a good call, there are one or two pubs ...York's a good call, there are one or two pubs there! (Have a look at this pub map.)

Must visits are Castle Rock's Rook and Gaskill (edge of the city), Brigantes (parallel street with brewery), Jamie's bar Pivni (little on the small side, might have to do it in shifts!), The House of Trembling Madness (upstairs in The Bottle off license).

The Blue Bell is also fantastic, but they don't let groups in due to its tiny nature.ChrisMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09088526990457894540noreply@blogger.com
