I never thought of sending that. Shame about the brewery but Sinclair have spent quite a bit of money on the Orkney brewery recently, I suppose it makes sense to shift production there. It's that barley sugar flavour which almost sucks away moisture. BrewDog Nanny State is a good example. And Crystal hops are nice little things, really fruity but low alpha.

Pelle, naturally yes but the postage costs are prohibitive (a box to send in the UK is £5, to go into Europe it'll be £30).

Toine, I've never had it on cask but I'll be looking out for it now!Mark Dredgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11421095862178324693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717216232742676074.post-81324245226056130872010-06-17T08:31:51.537+01:002010-06-17T08:31:51.537+01:00Each time I go to Scotland I never can get enough ...Each time I go to Scotland I never can get enough of that wonderful Avalanche! I'd like to try that.

Just an observation though, since I've been on about crystal malt elsewhere. Dryness? Sweetness, barley sugar, caramel, nuttiness, burnt at higher kilning, but dryness and bite? Surely not from crystal I'd suggest.

Could have come from the crystal hops. I've no idea what they might be. (-;

Stop Press. Just googled them. Well I never - not a hop I know:

Pedigree: Crystal is a triploid aroma-type cultivar, developed from the German Hallertau aroma hop variety with primary contributions from Cascade, Brewer's Gold and Early Green. Released in 1993 to the hop industry. Crystal is a half-sister of Mt. I'd drink them more often if it weren't for the embarrassing names and pumpclips they do for their seasonal beers: http://pumpclipparade.blogspot.com/2010/02/big-dud.htmlRob Sterowskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07870233673933087794noreply@blogger.com
