Very well summarised.

It's fairly obvious that the pressure groups have little or no understanding of the target audience (or, more likely, no real desire to gain that understanding if it interferes with them shouting about the issues in loud, ignorant-sounding voices) and BrewDog are extremely good at pushing the pressure groups' buttons in the interests of gaining free publicity. It seems to be a relationship that works quite nicely for both parties...Darren Thttp://www.blogobeer.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717216232742676074.post-17014197487900269762009-07-29T08:40:25.199+01:002009-07-29T08:40:25.199+01:00Dan, welcome along mate, stick around!

I wouldn't mind some dobblebock at that price, while the £10 a bottle price tag is also causing some debate here. I think it's probably priced that high (as well as because of the higher cost of brewing) to say 'look, this isn't a cheap beer...' etc.

Barm, ignorant - maybe, one-sided and negatively reactionary - yes.

Prof., exactly! The picture of the Carlsberg alone should point to a bigger problem than the picture of the one bottle of Tokyo. They cost the same amount but look at the difference in volume and units there. Plus that green castle was right by the entrance for EVERYONE to walk past!
bottleMark Dredgehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11421095862178324693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717216232742676074.post-81974211209734499052009-07-29T00:36:05.481+01:002009-07-29T00:36:05.481+01:00Well put, Mark. Kinda entertaining in a way, but perhaps not helpful to the general cause.

But on your post, Mark, you're probably preaching to the choir in a way, but it's a well put argument. I can't help wondering is the reactions simply a reflection on the society though. As I type, I'm on a second bottle of Doppelbock which cost me less than 80 cent (69p). It's 7.2%. I'd love to know what kind of reaction Tokyo* would get here in Germany, but I suspect most of the outrage would be on the price :)Barry Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07367655129107699025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717216232742676074.post-19860605397982540322009-07-28T21:50:02.857+01:002009-07-28T21:50:02.857+01:00I don't know what I find more tiring; Brewdog ...I don't know what I find more tiring; Brewdog trawling the hook (Tokyo as a "cure to binge beer-drinking"... whatever) or groups like Alcohol Focus / Liver Trust rising to the bait.

I've the utmost respect for them as innovative brewers but PR like this and the Speedball issue is akin to poking dumb animals with sharpened sticks.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03387325466589229898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8717216232742676074.post-83091054030102787082009-07-28T19:59:42.920+01:002009-07-28T19:59:42.920+01:00Excellent post there.
